London Day 6

My quiet morning was spent with feet elevated & ankles packed in ice. My legs & feet are reacting to the gruelling regime of pounding the pavements. The warmer weather has compounded the problem. As a precautionary measure I presented at St Mary's Hospital for a diagnosis. A blood test eliminated DVT. It is just a matter of tolerating the discomfort & the interruption to our planned afternoon sight-seeing.

Never again shall I complain about having to wait five minutes to see my GP. Following registration I waited an hour to see the screening nurse, a further half hour to see a doctor & an additional half hour waiting for a blood test. An hour later I returned to the hospital & had a further quarter of an hour wait for pathology results. I am told three hours is about the expected wait time. The service was free of charge.

  1. Hi Irene and Phil, sorry to hear about the legs and Hospital Trip, but glad it wasn't DVT. Sounds like the Hospital sytem over there is not much better than ours. Anyway take it easy and see if you can get a nice massage for your legs somewhere. Really enjoying the posts and photos.

  2. Ques are the price we pay for time traveling our heritage, a part of the ambiance of London Town & an opportunity to chat with Poms/foreigners. We felt at home the moment we arrived in '73 & '85. Enjoy a respite to recover from your wounds, maybe partake in a pint or two. Cheers, R&L
