Images of Inverness

I appreciated an opportunity to have a quiet morning at 'home' while Phil visited the Culloden Battlefield, site of the 1746 battle between the English, led by Bonnie Prince Charles, & the Jacobites, commanded by his cousin, the Earl of Cumberland. History documents the English were victors. It was the last full-scale battle to be fought on British soil.

Inverness Castle
This afternoon we ventured downstairs & onto the streets of Inverness in search of points of interest. Inverness Castle, built in 1836 on the site of an 11th century castle, is now privately owned & public scrutiny wasn't welcome. It is claimed that Shakespeare's tragedy, Macbeth, unfolded in the earlier castle.
