The Royal Shakespeare Theatre is a theatre like no other I have visited. The production of Twelfth Night was outstanding. The cast were brilliant matched only by their individual performances. The set was extraordinary. I forgot my camera! An unforgettable evening on which to end our Stratford-Upon-Avon visit.
This morning we took a direct route north to Manchester. Access to Bewley's Hotel at Manchester Airport was challenging. With the hotel in full view we struggled to determine its entrance. Two circuits followed by a wrong turn into a multi-storey carpark turned out to be a right move! Elevation enabled us to examine the road system from above & determine the best approach to the hotel.
Our 1:07 p.m. hotel arrival was 53 minutes early! We were offered immediate check-in for an additional fee of £20. We requested bag storage! In the process Miss Molly realized the hotel had run out of bag tags & with an apology conceded an early check-in!
Trying to retrace our drive through the airport to Europcar was a mission. After 5 620 miles we parted company with our trusty Seat. A reliable vehicle, comfortable to drive, but the road noise detracted from giving it a perfect ten. Deed done, we headed for the train station. Return tickets had us on the 2:41 p.m. train to Liverpool.
Liverpool surprised! Serious money has been injected to modernize the city centre & the harbour precinct. We strolled along the harbour, where the marriage of architecture from the past & that of the present sit well together. The Cavern Pub in Mathew Street was a must visit. A nostalgic return to the 60's when the loves of my life were the Fab 4 & their music. While our acquaintance with Liverpool was fleeting, we leave we fond memories.
Tonight we prepare for our return to Paris, a much anticipated visit.
