Ireland bound

On life's journey there are some folk we meet with whom we are immediately comfortable. Our Llandovery B&B hosts, Jill & Mike, are two such people. Last night we enjoyed a lovely home-cooked dinner with their friends. Their hospitality went beyond that which we have come to appreciate while staying in B&B's. As many stars as they like for these two!

This morning we enjoyed ever changing scenery on our drive from Llandovery to Pembroke. More densely vegetated, the undulating countryside gave way to hills, valleys, lakes, woods & farms ever so beautiful.

Carmenthen, the oldest town in Wales, disappointed. Its historical features have not been well preserved. It looked unloved. A project for Sarah Beeny perhaps?

Road rage incident #2: We're not sure of the offence, but her body language sent a very clear message that all was not well. We felt immediate sympathy. Holding a pen to tick the 70-75 year age box must be extremely difficult with three fingers & thumb missing!

The loading of vehicles & passengers onto the Isle Inishmore was a well orchestrated & orderly affair. I booked our passage so long ago that I had forgotten we had booked Club Class. Not sure how Phil agreed to such extravagance. Top deck with all the comforts of a Qantas Club. A lovely surprise!

Not comfortable on water, I have been anxious for several days thinking about the four hour ferry crossing of the Irish Sea. We boarded in Pembroke & are presently sailing towards the heads. Our destination is Rosslare, Ireland. An announcement stating sailing conditions are excellent has been reassuring. No waves yet!

Land ahoy! 'Tis Ireland t' be sure!

We have had a comfortable trip. A slight swell but I soon adjusted to the pitch of the ferry. With very few passengers onboard, it allowed us to stretch out & sleep, something that comes easily when we have time to stop. The Maldron Hotel, Wexford. room tree, five, seven is just a 12 hour stopover. Tomorrow we drive to Cork.
